Transcent

i'm told by my teachers that a good designer can work wonders with the word, the text, the alphabet, those little pieces that make up a body of timeless relevance.

Even to Resist

CS Lewis writes, in Letters to Malcolm, of humans and the lower lifeforms, that they have been given the freedom to"... to will his will ('and wield their little tridents'): the lower one simply execute it automatically (74-75)." The freedom to choose includes the freedom even to resist.

Achievements & Effort

It takes a little time, I see, to be proud of your work.

Egg: Counted

i was sitting in Highland Coffees wondering what to draw when a friend entered and sat at the table next to me. He told me of his application to be a summer programmer at Google (by the way, he prefers Macs). But then he said, "Well, now that i told you, isral, it won't happen."

i told him that i understood the sentiment. Only the things to which i look forward are those things which do not occur. We agreed that our earnest outlooks often jinx our futures.

So, after the image came to mind's eye and i began drawing he informed me that today, 05-21-2006, was his 21st birthday. So i dedicated the image inspired by our little talk as his birthday present.

Fallacy

The Android's Fallacy: the Heart Pretending to be a Brain. No, it wasn't thinking, it was emotion running amok.

Indecision

The image below symbolises the inner confusion when you look at data, or information about something, and come to more than one conclusion, differing conclusions, from the same evidence. For me, as long as the comparison/contrast continues, I am vulnerable to making a bad decision.

Of course, I am referring to some definite events, and not just in my own life, that cause one to second guess, over-analyse, and become quite befuddled.

Portfolio

All the work is up for display. The work is vulnerable, all the signs on your sleeve, no matter how you try to hide it, disguise it. Available for rejection, for despising, for a laugh. You should never have shown it, you should have hidden it. Then, now, aren't you glad you didn't actually say it. You finally acted according to your prophetic notions, you knew how it would end up. Hey, you didn't talk too much, you didn't lose. You weren't defeated. Some say no risk is defeat in a preemptive victory, but rather, no risk is victory in preemptive to the loss that would come because of risk. Smile, you were smarter this time, for the first time. :)
